Explore Uptown on Rental Bikes
Dallas’s first food hall, Uptown Urban Market, recently opened in the vibrant Uptown neighborhood off the Katy Trail on Cedar Springs and Cole Avenue. The market features some of the best food purveyors in the city. You can eat there or get it to go to take back to the office or your home, there is something for everyone. The restaurants and libations include La Duni, Fireside Pies, Buda Juice, The Cupboard by Tiffany Derry, The Hot Counter, The Ill Minister, and Bar Up. Once you visit you’ll be able to see why we partnered with the market to open our first off site rental station.
The 6 bike rental station is located outside the Cedar Springs entrance to the market. The first thing you’ll notice is the striking green color of the Tribe bicycle 3 speed Opafiets. All the bikes are locked, and you’ll need to go inside the market during business hours and to use the kiosk located beside The Cupboard to-go food area to rent a bike
You’ll see a sign that says Bicycle Rental Here with an arrow pointing to the kiosk. If you have reserved online through our website, you’ll need to select “I have a reservation”. If you didn’t make a reservation, select “Choose some Bikes”. The bikes are $12 an hour or $40 for a 24 hour rental. Once you complete the transaction, get a key from The Cupboard attendant and head outside to unlock your bike. Match the number on the key to the number on the bike.
All the bikes are the same size. You can adjust the height of the seat by loosening the seat clamp, adjusting, then tightening the seat clamp back. Take off the ulock and store it in the black holder on the frame of the bike. The silver piece slides right in. This is the lock you’ll use when you stop at all the fun places while you are out exploring. Always remember to put the ulock through the frame of the bike when locking.
Once you have everything adjusted on the bike, you can head in several different directions depending on where you want to go. Want to find the nearest bike path or bike lane? Click the cycling option on google maps. As you can see on this map, there are several different bike paths within a short distance from the market.
Once you are done with your ride, lock the bike back up to the racks outside the entrance to the Uptown Urban Market. Head inside to drop the key with The Cupboard attendant. The attendant will end your ride through the kiosk and you will be emailed a receipt. We hope you enjoy using the rental bikes and your trip to the Uptown Urban Market.
