Our Favorite Routes
Dallas hasn’t historically been known as being a bicycle friendly city. We think that’s changing. Most of the people that work at Local Hub commute by bike everyday and we have helped many other people figure out how to get on their bike and leave their car at home. It can be a challenge to think about logistics, how to carry cargo, how to get to destinations the best way, how to stop sweating. The best way to figure it out is to practice. Try riding your bike in the morning on the weekends when there aren’t a lot of cars on the roads. Pack your stuff to see how heavy your load will be. Leave items at the office like shoes and personal hygiene items to lighten your load. While we don’t always trust Google to plan our bike routes, if you click the bicycle icon all of the bike lanes and paths appear in green. A good rule of thumb is to stick to streets that are 35 mph or less. Bike Texas published this list of Texas Bicycle Laws. Read them and know your rights as cyclist.
With bike to work week coming up May 15th-May 19th, we thought we would share our favorite routes through Strava for you to get out there and practice. We also host a Saturday social ride at 9:30 am every Saturday morning. It’s an all bike welcome casual ride where we show you how to get around Dallas by bike. If you have some favorite routes we didn’t include, let us know. We are always looking for new ways to explore Dallas by bike.
